Keys of Inheritance

John 14:2 (NLT)There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you?

Several times in scripture, Jesus used houses and homes as an allegory to our fellowship with Abba Father. Sometimes the allegory was about trying to clean up a life that wasn’t ready(Luke 11:14-26), at others He used it to describe the foundation on which He would establish the Kingdom within us  (Luke 6:48-49 [AMP]

But in the scripture reference above,  Jesus is talking specifically about the inheritance that He is preparing for you.  It isn’t something that you can purchase with money, trade for with goods, or earn by behaving well.

Just as Jesus spoke of,  and modeled a life of intimacy with Abba Father, so his image of preparing a mansion for each of us was also an allegory of your secret place of intimacy with the Father.

All throughout scripture, homes, mansions and tents often represent the presence of God tabernacling and dwelling with His people. Over and over again, we see where the heart and desire of the Father was not to live in a structure, but in the hearts of His children.

So when Jesus spoke to the people about the mansions he was preparing for them, He wasn’t talking about a far off time or place that they would inherit, after they died. He was speaking prophetically of the home and mansion He and Holy Spirit were going to build in them/you,  once He was raised from the dead, seated at the right hand of Abba and Holy Spirit was poured out.

He was letting them know that He, Father and Holy Spirit were preparing a place of intimate tabernacling (Immanuel-God with us: Isaiah 7:14), a mansion, specifically designed for you: a home as unique as your thumb print; as individual as your DNA.

Psalms 91:1 “Blessed and highly favored are those who live and dwell in the intimate,  secret and abiding place of God. They are the ones who live and have their being within the intimate shadow of the Most High.”(authors paraphrase)

Jesus Himself, has built you an intimate, secret, dwelling place; one in which the only ones who have a key,  are you and God.

Activation:

  1. Find a quiet      place without distractions (this would be a good time to play soaking music) and spend a      few minutes thanking the Father of Love for sending      the Son of His love Jesus to pay      the penalty for every sin, adopting you into His family of love and wanting to bring you into an intimate encounter with His love.
  1. When you can feel the Father’s presence, ask Holy Spirit to show you what your mansion looks like, and where He’s hid the key.
  1. You may want to journal the things He shows you so that you can come back later and add to it or just celebrate it all over again.
